safe strap root and updating

ok so i have 902 on my not safe side
and gummy 1.02 or .01 on my safe side loving it.
just got the email from moto about the update.
if i switch to m non safe and update will it update and then i can just switch back to my safe side and nothing will have changed? i'm new to the whole safe strap and rom stuff.

I think we *may* have to flash a preinstall.img file to restore the preinstall partition folder.....If i understood correctly. But then I think, well, I have a stock rooted backup made in recovery, so that would restore it if need be.

My guess is that after the update you might have to refresh the ROM since the baseband has changed. But I'm a n9ne at this stuff too
