The original Padfone was released not to long ago to quite a bit of fanfare from techies. Sadly, even though the concept is amazing, its design still needed some work, and it hasn't been a success for Asus. That isn't stopping them from pushing forward with plans for the Padfone 2, and if these supposedly leaked benchmarks are real, then the next generation of the device could be quite a bit better. According to the leaked benchmark, the new version will come packing the Quad-Core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip that recently has been making headlines in the LG Optimus G. The Padfone 2 will also come with 2GB of RAM.

Interestingly, the AnTuTu benchmark for the Padfone 2 is quite a bit better than it was for the LG Optimus G. The Padfone 2 scored a 13,950 which is likely a new record for AnTuTu, and it bests the recent release of the Galaxy Note II whose Samsung Exynos quad-core chip scored a 13,500 AnTuTu score. There's no word on when we might see the Padfone 2, but the industry intel suggests the obvious. We will likely see the device at Mobile World Congress in February of 2013. We will let you know if we see anything else before then.

13,500 may be a record for a STOCK device; however I have scored in excess of 14,000 with my Nexus 7 overclocked to 1.8GHz with the GPU at 6-hundred-something MHz. I have no way to prove it, but I hit it more than once.

I was waiting for the padfone for a long time and yet I STILL have no clue if its available in the US or what carriers its available for or where to buy it. As far as Im concerned the thing doesnt exist, maybe that was asus' problem!
