rooting to 2.2

hello new here and looking for help, trying to root my phone from 2.1 to 2.2, ive hit a wall please help, i am rooted and tried the droidlife instructions but im getting frustrated now and i figured id look to the droid community for help, if anyone is interested in helping me please post thanks
