Rooted Messaging Problems..

I. Just rooted my Ally and must have deleted something I shouldn't have.

Now when I get messages, I can see them in my Handcent notification box however when I go into my Inbox.. there are no messages.

Any idea what I did or how to fix?

Thanks - Ryan

Lesson #1, always back up!
Lesson #2, never delete stock apps, rename them to .bak or .old first.
Lesson #3, memorize lessons #1 and #2

Ok, now that thats out of the way, are you running a ROM, or just stock with root?

Lesson learned.

Stock to my belief. I use Launcher Pro as my theme if that contributes anything further.

To my phone? Or pc? I'm a very technically literate person but these phones are not my area.

What next?

Before we go any further we have to ask two questions:

One; if you didn't know what you were doing, why did you root?

Two; do you know what an .apk file is? If not, you need to brush up on some basic Android lingo before you do anything else and brick your phone. That could prove very costly for you and we don't want to see that happen to anyone. :)

I know a good deal about electronics and computers and wiring, etc.. I am understanding now that there's a bit more still to be understood regarding programming.. etc. Obviously!.. I rooted it because I understood how to and what I could do, I didn't understand that handcent worked with my default mess program.. not instead.

From what I gather, an apk file is an android os operable file. Similar to how jpeg for pictures etc.

Right, wrong? Close?
