root questions

Hello, I just rooted my d2 using z4 root. My question is should I have downloaded anything before I did that, such as bootstrapper or astro manager. I just want to know everything I should download to be safe and not wreck my phone. I'm new at this and could use some help. Thanks alot.

Download bootstrap, titanium backup, and root explorer.
