root not working

-pH

New Member
i am trying to re-root my phone after a bit of a mishap the other night where i apparently installed a incompatible rom that got me stuck at the boot screen when i restarted my phone.

i am following these instructions:
All-One-Guide to Rooting, Deodexing, and Installing a Custom ROM/Theme (And How to Unbrick Droid X) - Android Forums

when i execute doroot i rcv the following error:

Checking for devices...
List of devices attached
015A482719009025 device

" Transfering payload.
-->Superuser.apk
cannot stat 'Superuser.apk': No such file or directory
-->su
cannot stat 'su': No such file or directory
-->busybox
cannot stat 'busybox': No such file or directory
-->rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
cannot stat 'rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin': No such file or directory

Rooting failed.
No Errors"

those files are in the directory where doroot also lives.

is there a better way to root? depending on how you root are there different roms you can install dependent on method?

thanks.

I didn't root using that method so I can't comment on the error. Can tell you that I used the following link to root and it was simple as long as you follow the directions.

Just make sure usb debugging is enabled, not sure why it matters since it does not use the usb port.

PS Someone just gave me this link last night if you are looking for a one-click method. Haven't used it so can't really comment other than to say it is out there.
