I have tried researching this like crazy ---------- Does anybody know if antivirus programs available in some of these apps are necessary yet for the Droid , and if so what would you suggest ?
I've heard they also might mess up your phone . Thanks for your help out there .

I've heard the same thing as you, that these are completely unnecessary and can mess up your phone. I don't run with one

I use lookout.. it is a virus scanner, backs up your contact and finds your droid if it is missing..
