Replacement Droid with 2.2

Hello all! Im new here of course but have heard awesome reviews of this forum. I've had a droid 1 for almost a year now. My screen just went out and I was sent a replacement with 2.2 stock. Now I want to change the firmware back to 2.1 so I can reroot and use CyanogenMod 6. Is this possible?

Welcome! I know you can root the Droid 2 but I'm not sure what roms you can install. Check out the Droid 2 hacking section.

Well my roommate just had this problem and ask me to figured it out. But after looking for a week, i ran into 2 options. z4root, or http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html

z4root was free in the market, ran it without any problems and was really quick to do.

Everyone was right, you people rock, used Z4root and now my 2.2 droid is rooted! Right on.
