Removing Quick Remote from Notifications?

On mine, it takes up that space if i have it highlighted on the very top bar of the pull down menu and it goes away when i turn it off.

I know its been a while since this post but i couldnt do it either. You have to enable the button on the drop down menu, click it to remove the remote, then you can remove the button after, hope it helped, cause it was driving me crazy.
