Even though I live on the East Coast, I put all my clocks to PST. Then I don't feel so bad about going to bed when the sun is coming up.

Maps has received a few updates since we last published updates to this apps pack. As a result, it is not-advised to attempt to theme it. I'm not sure we'll be updating any of these 2.1 based files as we're currently focused on the DE beta for 2.2 and the OTA update to officially bring Froyo to the Droid devices is just around the corner.

thanks for the clarification. this is first time experimenting with themes/unrooting and such. I basically unrooted for wifi tethering but thought id explore the other possibilities. what will I need to do, to be ready for the froyo update.

If you want to remain rooted, you'll need to wait for someone add root to the 2.2 update and not accept the OTA update if your phone isn't signaled to ignore it. That's about it. Then just wait for someone to put out an update.zip of the rooted 2.2 :D

hate to sound like a newb. so if I followed the guide step by step am I signaled to ignore the OTA update. would worst case scenario be losing root access if updating. or could it be possible bricking?

No bricking. And if you aren't set up to ignore the OTA update, its easy to just tell it no when it asks if it can apply. And yes, worst case scenario is losing root and then having to go through the whole sbf process to gain it back.
