Reduce mic sensitiveity?

How can I reduce the sensitivity of my mic on the Droid Razr Maxx HD? I'ts picking up too much background noise, and I don't want to use a headset all the time.

Not sure it's possible. I'm not aware of any setting that would help.

Toneman, could you try just turning the volume down? I'm thinking that would tend to mute out background noises.
