Question?? Droid X

Will/is droid X different to program from motorola droid?

I think I will get the X but will it be much different from moto droid?

Thanks in advance

first, i don't know why this is here.
you should probably move it before cereal killer tells you to do so.

and second, it's different. they amped up the defense against cracking the ROM and if anyone attempts to it bricks the phone. pretty badly.

I keep my Droid because it is so open and has a community like this, it'd be hard to find this anywhere else.

Actually, Motorola has clarified that eFuse won't brick the phone: Motorola responds to Droid X bootloader controversy, says eFuse isn't there to break the phone -- Engadget

"eFuse will shut down a phone with an unapproved bootloader -- but it won't brick the phone, it just needs 'approved software' to be dropped back on there."

i should have known that. but basically what i was trying to get at was you'd be unable to load any kind of different ROMs other than what you already have on there

I completely get what you're saying -- I won't switch either until and unless the X is rooted, but I thought it was important not to continue with the "badly bricked" myth.

because if a phone company saw you fiddling with your phone, don't you think it'd anger them? we have an entire community based on free ROMs. they'd rather have you have to pay for stuff like that through them.

want your phone to be faster? 5.99$ a month.

It isn't as if X wont get rooted and wont be able to load custom roms. It is just that it will take time. Like it does with all phones.

I just want it rooted more than anything to (hopefully) be able to get rid of some of this crap on this phone. Like I need a BB app!?
