Hey Everyone,

I rooted my phone (Motorola Droid) and was able to get WiFi tethering working great. I was running Android version 2.2.1.

Then I installed ROM Manager and then choose Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery and it installed successfully. I made a backup of my current ROM and then downloaded the most recent cyanogenmod version through ROM Manager and then tried to install it. I got the exclamation mark splash screen and nothing ever happened.

I ended up rebooting my phone and tried various things. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I think I rebooted to the recovery menu and tried to do the "apply sd card update.zip" but I got an error. I ended up doing a "wipe data/factor reset" and it cleared everything back to an almost stock android.

1)The phone is still rooted and the "superuser" application is installed.
2)I was going to download ROM Manager and restore my ROM backup but everytime I open the market it crashes immediately.
3)I tried downloading the cyanogenmod from my computer and copying update.zip to the root of my SD Card. When I go into recovery and choose "apply sd card update.zip" I get an error that says "E:signature verification failed"

Can someone PLEASE help me fix my phone?

Thanks!

can you go to manage applications and clear data and cache in the market and force stop it, and re-open it?

The problem is you still have a working FRS system which in stock android, checks for the stock recovery system. Every time the system boots, it checks to see if its there, and if it isn't it rewrites the stock recovery (the exclamation point).

Best thing to do it try to get ROM Manager working again and then apply the update.zip file from the first link in my signature which will disable the FRS system. Then you can boot into recovery properly everytime.

I tried clearing data/cache and force close it and re-open it but it still crashes as soon as I open it again.

Instead of choosing "apply update.zip" in the recovery menu, choose "install zip from sd card". Scroll down to the update.zip and select it.

Sounds silly but I had the problem with exclamation mark screen. The fix I found was to go into rom manager and flash recover three times then try installing again. Also download your roms oved wifi it goes quicker and I had less problems.

See if that helps.

He doesn't have a custom recovery at this point so he cannot do this. "signature verification" is the key point here.

This will fix your problem. I can almost promise it. Go into rom manager, scroll down to flash alternative recovery and flash sprecovery. Restart phone. Go into rom manager and click flash clockwork recovery. Flash rom of choice.

Your have a corrupted recovery on your phone, this will fix it.

That option isn't available.

Yes it was for the droid. Since I have also tried the Ultimate Droid ROM as well and get the same message.

How do I reroot back to a stock frg22? I still can't get market working.

Sorry it is taking me so long to respond. My ISP has decided that now would be a great time to start dropping my internet connection.

Ok, I was able to install your boot loader and root update.zip following the instructions in your signature but the market still crashes when I try to open it. At least I have your boot loader installed so that is a step in the right direction.
