If you would like to do some customizing to your Amazon Fire TV like possibly adding a new launcher, and maybe even installing the Google Play Store you will need to be rooted first. This can now be accomplished pretty easily with a prerooted custom rom by developer "rbox". This will require that you have ClockWorkMod Custom Recovery installed to your AFTV first. You will also need a little bit of adb knowledge so that you can transfer the rom to your AFTV from your PC. Head to the link below for the Rom download and full install instructions.
