"Power Off''stuck

I have a Verizon Droid. I tried to power off my phone while I was at the dentist and now my screen is stuck on the Power Off window. I clicked "OK" but the phone never went any further than this. Can someone tell me what to do to get past this screen?

Welcome, VivaceSue! Glad you found us! This place is full of friendly folks and great information. JCo352 is right, a battery pull will fix your problem, but if it happens very often, I'd take it back to Verizon and see what they can do - that is not normal.
