Pop3 Email Account and the calendar

My company is very small and we use a pop3 email based account. What I can't figure out is how to get that account to show up in my calendar so when I have an appointment invitation sent to my work account I can put it in my calendar on my droid.

Did you go to Google Calendar and see if there was some help for that? Remember, It's a Google phone so you want to sync whatever you got with your company to Google.

I'm a bit puzzled though. What does email have to do with the calendar?

Yes I did. And there is only information about how to sync the google calendar with and exchange calendar. However I'm not in the office very often so I either go into my email on my laptop through the webmail. Or I use my phone to check emails etc. So when some one sends me a meeting request and I check that on my droid I'd like to be able to have it go into my calendar when I accept the appointment etc...

Well first off, welcome to the forums.

To answer your question, I believe there is a way in Google to attach other calendars to your google calendar. Then when you get a calendar invite you should be able to accept and have it push to the calendar of your choosing. If your company has an IT person or a computer company that they use for technical support I would ask them. I know that here at my work we have that set up but for the life of me I do not know how they did it.

Sorry, I guess I am really not that much help after all.

I forgot to ask because this might help me remember how they did it here......

What calendaring program are you using at work and what email program. Since you said "invite" I'm thinking you are using outlook. Am I right?

This is the EXACT same problem I have. When I log in to my POP3 account from my Droid and a Calendar invite awaits me in my Inbox, I cannot accept it from my Droid.

Were you able to figure it out? dlwhtrose's recommendation to sync Google Calendar with another calendar won't work unless you first accept the invitation on your MS Outlook and then sync it with Google Calendar (via their sync application), which, in turn, will then Sync to your phone. However, that defeats the purpose of trying to accept the invitation directly on your phone.

Because you and I run our mail server as POP3 and not "Exchange", Google can't connect to it and download your calendar via ActiveSynch.

This is a SERIOUS limitation and a huge step back from the 4-year old Windows-Mobile based cell phone I just replaced. All/most other cell phones can recognize a meeting invite received in your Inbox and allow you to process it.

Any luck since your last post?
