I have been expeiriiencing this problem for about 2 weeks now, I have 3 email accounts on my motorola droid one exchange and 2 pop3 account with Verizon. The droid stays connected to the exchange but for some reason will only connect and bring in mail when first turned on for the 2 pop accounts? If I reboot the phone it will bring in the mail then stop checking it if I manually check it, it fails to connect until I reboot. any one see this before?

The stock email client for the droid is broken. Have you tried K9? Don't use stock Email!!!
Don't use a task killer.
Make sure you have your accounts set to poll every 10 minutes or whatever.
