Podcasts & Ringtones co-mingled with my music

Is there any way to save podcasts/ringtones on my phone/sd card so that when I shuffle music, it won't play them as a song?

(I tried a search first, but it turned up 100's of irrelevent threads.)

if there is a .nomedia file in a directory it won't show up in the players. Not sure if this helps or not, but if all the podcasts were separate then they wouldn't be shuffled in with such a file in the directory. But then if you wanted to listen to a podcast you'd have to rename the file temporarily.

You could also use playlists and separate them that way. Are you using something like double twist?

I just tried using playlists to separate them, but I haven't checked to see if it worked, yet.

No, I'm not using Double Twist, although I have many apps downloaded. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Wow! So, everyone just tolerates it?

I'm surprised that the only suggested solution, isn't really a solution. So, I guess that means that everybody just tolerates having their ringtones, and podcasts shuffle in during playback?
