Okay guys sorry I had to make my first post a please help me thread but here it goes:

I've been running smoked glass v4 for a while now and have never really had the time to update to v6.01. Today I went to update then as soon as i got the whole .rom.tgz stuff copied over my phone would reboot until it got to the unlock screen and then reboot again. I took the battery out and booted into recovery and tried to install the newer rom but the installation ended on status 14. Now i can't turn it on without it getting to the lock screen then rebooting again

What should I do? I don't think i can really even acess my usb card via usb because my phone won't stay on. Did i follow proper rom update instructions? I couldn't find a thread or a video on how to. Please help!

I'm on android 2.1: I will do anything to get my phone back I don't even care if it's rooted or not.

are u o'c and if u are bogg down a few and if that aint it and if all else fails do a restore!

o'c meaning overclocking right? I am not overclocked and I can't even access my phones sd card at all via usb, I tried restoring to my retail backup and it ended on status 21 I think

Error 14 means there are too many file extentions on the file ie: rom.tgz.tgz should be just rom.tgz.
Error 21 means there is a space in the file name.

Do you have an old backup you can restore too?

Forgot to mention, before applying the new ROM you need to wipe data and cache.

+1 on both of the above replies, plus another thought. Make sure your battery has at LEAST 30% BEFORE you do any ROM flashing. I have seen a 20% loss on mine while just doing the nandroid backup portion.

That said, if the above doesn't work right away, try plugging your phone into the WALL charger for a few to get the battery fully charged and then try again.

good luck
