Phone discharging at excessive rate; calendar using 45% of battery

I have a GN and purchased an extended battery. It worked fine until this weekend. Then it started to drain at an excessive rate.....lost 40% in less than 2 hours. I checked battery use and found the calendar app was using 45% (the screen was only using 25%). I found the calendar was using most of my data usage (224 MB out of 366MB used) too.

I have tried to turn the app; couldn't find a place to do that. I tried to force stop it but like a zombie it kept going.

Any suggestions on how to reduce battery drain especially from calendar (by the way I don't even use the stock calendar......I use aCalendar which uses 2% of my battery use)

PS The phone used 4% in the time it took to type this post!

Sounds like it's frozen in sync. I'd try turning off calendar sync and restarting the phone. Then re enable calendar sync. If that doesn't fix your problem, I'd wipe the calendar apps data through settings-apps-all.
