If i purchase apps, than initiate a factory reset, would I need to re-purchase the apps? If not, how does the system keep that info, that I already paid for it?

For free apps it's easy enough just to keep record of what apps I want or use appbrain to do it, I'm just really curious how it works for paid apps.

When you purchase an app, you use your gmail account so it is saved there. Once you do a factory reset and enter your gmail info in the setup the app will show "purchased" in the market. Then all you have to do is download it. So yes you keep your paid apps. =)

You should also note the new (as of Feb 4th) Android Market allows you to view all your purchased/free apps on all your linked Android devices. You can install them directly from the website (on your PC) and it'll impress anyone who sees you do it.
