Padding sticking out under screen above home buttons...

Anyone else notice this? It's getting so annoying that I'm thinking about taking the phone in and getting a new one (if they even will). I just want to see if others are seeing this too.

If you look at the bottom of the screen (under the screen), right above the 4 buttons (home, search, back, etc.), there is this padding type stuff that is sticking out a little. If I angle the phone at all, I can see it and it bothers me a lot. The only way I don't see it is if I have it tilted at a certain angle, so the black bar (which the 4 buttons are on) covers it up.

I hope this makes sense.

EDIT: You can only see this if your outside in light. If you're in a dark room or something, the screen brightness gets higher so you can't see it.

I noticed something like that; in my case, I realized that it's the light that illuminates the soft buttons refracting off the edge of the screen glass. I don't think it's perfectly smooth, so it looks a bit irregular when the buttons are lit.

Cheers,

That's what I thought it was at first too, but go outside in light so the buttons don't illuminate and then you will probably see the padding that I'm talking about.

Very hard to get a pic, so this is the best I got. See that white/light gray padding sticking out under the screen right above the buttons?

I see the grey padding you're talking about. What happens when you have your phone on in a dark room? Does the padding light up and bother you or only in natural light you see it?

In a dark room you can't really see it because the buttons light up, and the backlight from those buttons "covers" up the padding; however, the backlight shines through the padding at some points and makes the backlight look uneven. It's hard to explain really.

If it is really bothering you that much maybe you should take it in and see if they can replace it for you.. I'd check the new phone and see if you didn't find anything wrong with that one before they make it yours. I traded in my first phone because screen was rising away from the keyboard on the bottom left corner so it was uneven and i was afraid it would get worse. They were hesitant to replace it at first I had the phone for a week or two and felt it should not have any 'wear and tear' issues as it was new. So I'm sure they would let you trade it in.. that is if you really can't live with the issue.

I've had the phone for about 4 days now. And I bought it at best buy. Should I still take it to a verizon store?

Now that I noticed this issue, it bothers me everytime I use the phone outside.

Did you buy insurance for you phone? The verizon asurion insurance? I think its 7 dollars a month... Or did you pay for best buy protection? Either way you're still within the 30 with best buy... I think you can just go into best buy and they can replace it for you with a brand new droid. I don't know if verizon deals with third party vendors unless you have Asurion insurance on your phone.. When buying a phone you should make sure to buy from a Verizon wireless retail store.. none of those mall kiosks or 'Authorized Reseller' in my case I have had past issues with that. You can try a Verizon store and see what they do.. they may just replace it for you and not check for a reciept... but they might tell you that you have to go back to best buy and exchange it

Yeah just tell them its distracting from the screen and you've seen other Droids that didn't have that problem. They'll probably look at their Droids for comparison.. but in the end I think they will do the exchange for you.. if not then throw a fit and start knocking over items and they'll do it for you to calm you down or have you escorted out of the building and call the police.

Some guys have completely disassembled a droid,... photos of all the parts are laid out,... I don't see any padding stuff, in their photos. ( Motorola Droid Naked | Android Phone Fans )

I do see something on yours that's a different color.

They only took apart the backside of the phone there, and not the front touchscreen part.

I think I'll wait a few more days and see if it gets worse. In the meantime, could you guys check yours under sunlight and see if you notice this?
