They are just known for really sturdy and durable cases. Many people in law enforcement and other outdoor type jobs use them for the phones they have.

This isn't the "defender series," so I'm not sure how well it protects compared to any other case.The defender series is on another level compared to most cases.This case looks more like a Seidio.

I bought the Seidio, but since I won't get to check it out until I get home from Iraq, I'll let my wife give me her impression of that case. I've been using Otterbox cases both in the states, and over here in Kuwait and Iraq, and they've kept the phones perfect. No, it's not the Defender series, but you couldn't really do that one with the slide, and it would be way too bulky. I love the case, being in the Army, but I'm always surprised at just how small my Blackberry is when I take it off.
I'm glad to see that they are starting to makecases. I emailed them shortly after the Droid came out and at the time it was under consideration from the response I got back then. I may break down and get this case or wait and see if the Defender series comes out. Right now I am sporting my Droid with no case, but just a screen Protector (Zagg).

Ok, I did a lot of looking around at sites looking for a good case option for extreme environments. I was thinking just a simple OtterBox or Pelican case then I came across the OtterBox 1900 PDA Case. This thing looks like it could survive a bomb blast LOL. The Specs say its Waterproof, Crush proof, Dust/Dirt proof, and it has this thin like plastic layer that (i guess) allows you to use the buttons on your device through the case keeping it watertight. If anyone is interested in this case, the best price i saw was right @ the OtterBox site 1900 Series PDA Case // OtterBox.com
It is currently on sale for $50. From the specs given it looks like the moto droid should fit perfect within. I've got the seidio case. I'll probably end up keeping it because I know I can get the car dock that it fits into. The docking feature is important to me so unless I can find a dock where the otterbox case will fit well I'll keep what I've got.
That said, I like the look of that case, and otterbox makes quality stuff.

Has anyone bought the new Otterbox case for the Droid and applied it to their phone? If so, does it add a ton of "bulk" to the Droid or is is comparable to other cases in the "bulk" they add?
Yeah I'm also wondering this same thing. I just bought the "Motorola Droid Monaco Aluminum Case" and like it so far but now that I see an otterbox I'm wondering how sturdy it really is. I used to have a body glove and the front piece was really flimsy and back piece broke after I dropped it. It protected the phone but I'd like something that with stand more than just 1 drop because being in the military I need a durable case.

did that come with the strap on the back? (im guessing not), but if you dont need the strap then yea you can find some deals on evil bay
and when i checked there they only had the black one i kinda like the yellow it shows it off more

The Otterbox case fits great. I had a body glove and returned it the next day in hopes otterbox would make this. No, its not the Defender case, but the Commuter series is just as good. Polycarbonate wrapped silicone for the back and a polycarb border (not a flimsy one mind you) for the slide. It adds a small amount of bulk, but well worth the protection and it adds a nice overall feel to the phone. I love this case, by far the best I have used!
