Noob question about 2.2

Greetings!

I have a Android noob question... Once we get 2.2 pushed to our Droid X's will it save all my current downloaded apps or will I need to re-download all of them and set the phone back up? Is it like a freash install of the OS?

it will install over your current OS like an update
