No SMS notification from Blackberry

I have one contact that has to use Blackberry email to SMS me.
His company has disabled text messaging.
Whenever he sends me a message I dont get any kind of notification.
When I open the messaging widget there is a message from him but I get no notifiaction it has arrived.
Any ideas?

If you are getting notifications from other people, then I really don't know. You could try downloading a messaging app like handcent or chompsms and see if they give you a notification using them.
