ok the free one is a early version an will not let you do all the new stuff like photo editing and stuff like that! i think the free one is version 1.0 an i believe the paid is 2.3 not to sure but thats pretty much it the paid app will always be a better version an a upgrade from the free one i think the free one breaks your market when trying to change the icon not to sure maybe he fixed it but yea hope i helped!
