Night Mode for Google Navigator?

Has anyone figured out how to make the maps go dark/reverse colors/ etc when using Navigator at night? Even with auto brightness enabled, I can't stand the white glare. My only solution so far has been to add the Satellite layer so that at least the white background turns green 'coz of the trees.

Not one to switch too.... Some say the Sat view works for them at night...

The app most definitely needs a night mode. I hope it gets it someday cause I love it.

I simply dim my screen and all is good.
