New to the smart phone revolution

Hi to all! I received my first smartphone on Tuesday afternoon. Galaxy 4S. I am so overwhelmed, I am lost. Would you believe that I have yet to figure out how to make a simple phone call?

It turns out that my online activation of my phone did not work. Even ATT tried to troubleshoot the problem. I had to activate using my office phone. NOW I can make phone calls.
