Hi I've been a mobile phone user for over 2 decades and finally made the switch to a smart phone - got the Droid X and don't even know where to start. also don't know how to use tags
general panic attack. is there a general guide for people totally new to android phones and/or droid x - beyond pushing the power button - which btw brings me to a screen where the only way I can get past it is to hold the lock button [arrow] and push the green circle on the right - can I be any newer? thanks!
To unlock, simply slide the left lock button to the right. To silence the phone without unlocking it, slide the right speaker button to the left.

This is the Android 2.2 User Guide. Your device has Android 2.1 (although it will be upgraded over the air, free of charge within the next month to 2.2). There are some differences between the 2 operating systems, but reading this manual will give you most of the ins and outs of Android, and you'll be ready for the new features once they arrive in the new update.
A few things you will see in the manual will not be on your phone until you get this update. They include Bluetooth dialing and Flash-enabled content in the browser, plus a few other things.
You will notice that the Droid X has a custom interface, called MotoBlur. Most Motorola Android phones come with this, and it basically adds a few more widgets (you'll learn about these in the manual) and allows better integration with social networks.
I hope this helps you. Once you're done with the manual, you can customize your Droid X the way you want it using widgets and wallpapers and custom icons. You can also use the market to download apps. Feel free to ask any more questions here in these forums, most of us are more than happy to help new Droid owners.
Great advice above. Don't try to figure everything out at once. Figure out the basic things you want to be able to do first. Ie, texting, making/receiving calls, email, using the browser.
And as already stated, feel free to ask. This forum is filled with knowledgeable and friendly people!
If you have any specific questions, post them in this thread and we'll get you squared away!
Welcome to the forum. We also have a section dedicated to the X. To find it go to the Forum tab at the top of the page, click it then scroll down until you see the Droid X sections.
