I have the Droid X when I install an app it states this app has access

I have the Droid X when I install an app it states this app has access to the following information my location, network communication and phone calls..what does this mean and how to stop them from having access?:icon_eek:

Each app accesses different areas of the OS. The message that you receive is typical with many apps. It is an alert to the user that the app may need to access certain things. For example, an app that uses GPS may warn that it uses the communication, phone, personal info, etc.

The only way that I know to stop the use is to not install that particular app.
