Hello, I am new to the Droid community. I just purchased the Motorola Droid from Verizon and so far so good. I really like my phone. I am familiar with jailbreaking the itouch and I would like to learn how to root my phone. the phone came stock with 2.1 firmware, is that good or bad? Any way, I'm glad to join this community.dancedroid

If you want to root, I'd recommend going for the froyo, as it's incredibly fast, faster than the incredible actually. Just look around on the forum, use the search to see how to root from 2.1 (eclair) or 2.0.1 (donut) and how to get to 2.2 (froyo)

You'll learn to love the delicious names that Google gives it's Android versions.
