Network error message

Im trying to create a remote storage thru the stock file manager and keep getting a network error message. Is there anyone that may know the cause of this?

I'm just guessing here but is the storage a share on your computer? If so, what message?

Once I'm connected to wifi I'll take a screen shot. I'm trying to root my bionic with ubuntu 13.10. I already asked in the ubuntu forum but was told us more of an android question.
