i'm locked out of my phone and the password i thought i put in isnt working. also, its not going to the alternative gmail user and pass after i mess up (i got to 45 incorrect tries). is there any way to reset it without having to unlock it, e.g. via a computer?

its an original motorola droid, with the version 2 upgrade. i'm also not a very techy guy, despite having a techy phone.

thanks to all who can help

if you cant remember the original gmail password that you have linked to your phone i think you might be stuck. i think the only thing you can do here is flash a stock SBF to get to stock 2.2 and lose everything.

im not positive on this though, see what other members say

i know the gmail pasword. my problem is just the generic phone lock/unlock password. i just changed it from a pattern to a regular alphanumeric password, and now that password isnt working. the issue with the gmail is that even after i mess up on the lock/unlock password a lot, it doesnt offer the "forgot your password?" option of going to the gmail account

yeah as dumb as it sounds. i keep trying the password i thought it was, but no use. ive tried possible errors, like different caps/nearby keys but still nothing

Unfortunately you will have to take it to Verizon and have them solve the problem for you, we do not discuss the unlocking of locked phones here at D/F even though your problem is probably a legit one, the information that would be up for discussion could be used in a unlawful manner and therefore is not condoned here

okay. i figured that might be an issue, i do know it sounds kind of fishy. thanks anyway for the advice

so the gmail option doesnt come up? id just keep trying to guess passwords until you get that option to use the gmail. never heard of it doing that.
