Multiple Gmail Notifications

Is anyone having the issue I am with Multiple Email notification from GMAIL? I have only one account active in the phone (LG Revolution) and have it setup to receive notifications at a timed interval. I am usually on a 3G or 4G network and rarely use a WIFI connection. The notifications show up in pairs and sound the original notification tone as well as the newest one I have selected. Once I have viewed one of the notifications they both go away. This isn't a huge problem, its just very annoying.
