lol i do believe so. i guess when you put it that way it sounds absolete but theres a lot of website that still use mpgs to play videos.

that gives it all the reason more why they should play them

Rockplayer Lite in the Android Market might be the solution you are looking for. Any Video Converter, which runs on your computer, can convert files from one format to another so that might be another solution.
 
He means m-peg video format. I've never had an issue playing any .avi or any from the divx pack. Might just be the website that's too heavily reliant on flash or a plugin for a codec that's only available for computer browsers.
