Motorola droid CDMA carrier change

I happen to have a motorola droid which I am using as a media player. It is better than an ipod touch and was only 50 dollars which is why I have it. However, I happen to be in Canada, and can't use it with cell service which I might want to do. I have heard tell of people switching carriers on this device in the US, and am wondering if that is possible in Canada (probably onto telus). Is there any somewhat straightforward way of doing this?
Thanks

This is a great question. I know that there were a few folks on here with Milestones (A854 and A853) that used them in Canada, but I believe thats where they were made for.

You can change to a carrier in the US that uses Verizon towers, thats the trick.
