Has anyone run into any issue with the Official Car mount for the Motorola Droid? I am just purchasing it now and I heard a few problems here or there but nothing to serious. I just want to make sure there no HUGE PROBLEM where I can't use it.

If you have a case on it the Droid won't fit in the car mount (or) the HDMI Multimedia dock. Poor engineering there....

It's not just "poor engineering" versus "good engineering". There's simply no way to accommodate every case (existing and potential) out there. If you want such a solution there are adjustable generic device mounts.

My car mount included the charger. I really like it, it is so secure that I use it on my motorcycle.

I would agree that there is no way to accommodate all cases, however, since the Motorola mount has an integral/removable "shim" to allow for a hard case and the case Verizon sells does not fit there is a problem. I sent a question to Motorola to find out which hard case their mount is designed to work with - no response so far.

I broke one mount from over tightening. The nut on the back of the unit that adjusts the angle the droid sits at snapped when I was tightening it. Other than that, the replacement I bought has been great (always remind myself, tighten enough to make it not move when bumped, no more)

I bought a mount from Verizon and it was in combination with a belt clip and hard case. It's been awesome. It did not come with a charger and when the car charger I had broke from plugging and unplugging I modified the mount to accomodate the charger being held in one place so it functions as a dock. Unfortunatly this mount is no longer sold and a new style is available. I think the new one sucks.

The new one = the original one. The one you have was awesome for the limited time Motorola sold it through Verizon. Not sure if they still make it

which brand did you purchase and does it have a website? I have the droid x and would like the mount to have a flexible arm to position accordingly.
thanks
