Messaging Problems

I installed and uninstalled Handscent, because I didn't really care for it. Now my regular messaging gives me no notification on the screen or sound when a text comes in. When I tap on the messaging icon, the message is there.

Did I mess something up when I uninstalled Handscent?

If you go into the stock messaging app and press the menu soft key, then scroll down to the check box that says "enable notifications". Then select the ringtone you would like just to make sure its working.
