ALL CREDIT GOES TO KOUSH AND THE CYANOGENMOD TEAM!!!!!!
All i did was pull out the messaging app from the cyanogen cm 6 rom..
I am using the messaging app with ss 4.4 and it works beautifully..
i dont know if it works with other roms as well..so make a backup and try at your own risk, goodluck.

Do you install this the same as the old ones (It has been a while)?

1. Remove or rename system/app/Mms.apk to Mms.bak
2. Copy this into system/app/ as Mms.apk
3. Reboot
4. Install system/app/Mms.apk

The steps I posted one comment up worked for me... Not sure if I did it the right way though.

It is good to have the black background and options back though. :)

Step by step installation...
1. Download the file
2. Delete Mms.apk in system by using root explorer or anyway u want
3. Now move the new messaging app to system and install it
4. Reboot
5 that should work

Actually, here is what you should do.

1. Download the file
2. Move Mms.apk in system by using root explorer or anyway u want, to your SD card. You need to make sure you back that file up, just in case.
3. Rename the file you downloaded to Mms.apk, and move to /system. Set permissions to 644.
4. Reboot

And you should be good to go.

This one doesnt have the facebook status at the top of the messages like the one on 2.1. Anyone have a working version for 2.2 with the facebook notifications?
