I've been looking on the internet on sites such as this and it shows that in the setup of Google Voice you can have it handle all of your calls, however, on my phone it is only an option for international calls. Even on Google's official Google Voice page it shows the Nexus 1 making a call from Google Voice, why am I not able to do this?

Did you add your actual phone number to your google voice account and activate it?

I'm pretty sure. Are you able to make calls from the Google Voice application?

No, you can't make calls straight from the Voice app. What happens is, in the settings you can have it so that all your outgoing calls are automatically routed through your google voice number, or have it prompt you. You just call as normal.

The google app calls one of their random local call numbers based on location. It inializes through data to start the call but uses the phone system to connect. There is one app that I use called flex dialer that calls your gv number for you and then goes through the menu and dials the contacts number. It never touchs 3g or data
