lots of problems...

I want to activate / unlock / whatever my fascinate. i do not want to use the phone on any carrier, i just want to use it for e-mail, MSN, wifi type stuff, and use the GPS.

First problem: when i turn the phone on i get a "press 'Send' to activate" screen. if i press Send it brings me to an activate screen, none of the codes i have been able to find online have worked thus far. Putting the phone in airplane mode lets me get further...

WiFi seems to work fine, no problems there as of yet, however i am having a similar issue with the GPS, it cant seem to get a lock. It is my understanding that GPS works by receiving satellite signals and triangliaing my position based on those. I also know there has been some issues not getting a lock with some fascinate phones, however this problem seems to be slightly different:

It seems the phone is trying to use data through the cell network, not on my wireless. basically i want to remove the phone part of this phone and have it work essentially like an itouch with a GPS.


Can anyone help me with this?

Oh, also, im in Canada, the phone is Verizon branded, no verizon here so its not like i can just go to a rep and have them mess with it.

"Long time listener, first time caller..."

This is a pretty common code found online, and it worked on our display model in the store:

When the opening screen pops up, choose the "+ Emergency Dial" button.

1) Dial: *#83786633

2) Hit send if you need to (through my experience all you need to do is dial the number)

3) Then press the home key (the button at the bottom that looks like a house

You should be at the home screen now.

Remember, after dialing you must hit the home key. It won't automatically send you to the homescreen after you complete dialing the number. It will just look like nothing happened.
