Lookout Mobile

I posted a response to a question in the General Discussions area, but wanted to post it here to see if anyone using the Fascinate uses this app, and if you do, is it worth it or hard on the battery?

Anti-virus app is not needed on any Android phone.

Malware is the culprit with 'bad apps' not a virus. They are not the same, and an anti-virus does nothing to protect against malware. It's all about the permissions an app is given.

Save your resources and battery :)

lookout is not only for viruses...and I have it on my droid 2 and had it on my OG droid also and it didn't kill my battery or slow it down

Update*...just read on cnet.com that lookout is gna start charging for their service 2.99 a month or 29.99 a year...

Wit that said, there's a new securiy app in the market called Dr.Web which is also really good :)

Ive had it on my Fascinate for about a month. Never found anything bad in the scans... but I also keep it for the backup and locator options. I wont pay for it tho... so Im gonna check out Dr. Web too

If you are gonna keep LookOut for it's other features... at the very least, do yourself the favor and disable the auto-scan. It's wasteful to your battery and resources :)
