looking for tutorial on how to create custom roms

I have been googling for a few hours and cannot come up with anything I am running windows 7 if that makes a difference I would def like to start getting into making custom roms for moto droid im a noob in this area but am in school for web design so understand the basics of design and dev and a quick learner so if anyone has a link i would appreciate it.
