Almost EVERY DAY there's a new update for LauncherPro.

It's really annoying.

I think the developer needs to set some goals for what he wants in the application, develop them, test them, and then release an update, and then go back and work hard for at least another few weeks.

Pushing out updates every day or so just annoys the hell out of everyone.

And don't tell me it's anything substantive. I would bet anything that lots of these apps that update all the time are not being properly tested and the updates are actually fixing bugs introduced by previous updates.

Your Droid notifies you when there's an available update. If you don't want to update you ignore the notification. If you do wanna update you move your fingers across your screen a few inches and LauncherPro updates.

Think of how hard Fede is working to develop an outstanding launcher for us to download for free.

If you are so annoyed by his hard work uninstall the launcher and you won't be bothered by the updates.

I, for one, greatly appreciate his hard work and dedication to LauncherPro, so much that I bought the paid version. Did you? No? Don't complain.

personally i love applications that update ofter such as launcherpro. i think of it as the app gets better with every update and more bugs get ironed out as a result. would you rather have an app that never gets updated with bugs or an app that gets updated often adding new features and bug fixes?

Wow what a predictable response.

Nobody is criticizing the app itself, nor the work of the developer.

You totally failed to answer my question/criticism.

There's no good reason to be pushing updates every day or two. NONE.

I'd prefer an app that strikes a happy medium. Update once every other week or so.

That's enough time to add a few good features and thoroughly test them.

I've been writing software professionally for 10 years. Updating this frequently isn't the result of new features. It's the result of playing CYA because you didn't test and are introducing new bugs because of your development/release cycle.

What are you talking about, if there is an immediate issue at hand and it needs to be fixed, you release an update. If there is a feature that someone request that not there, you release an update. If you launch a major upgrade with built in widgets that are high quality but still have bugs, you release an update.

If you dont like a launcher that has good support and is stable, go try something like ADW or something.

Not trying to flame you but posts like this are not needed, please come up with a constructive post next time.

well people like what they like
personally i've been using launcherpro as my main launcher for as long as i can remember and i love it.
one knock though is that it could have some better optimizations for live wallpapers, they tend to lag more than other launchers like adw or even the stock launcher, that said though i dont use livewallpapers that often but id like them to be a bit snappier when i do through one on.
also love the custom dock implementation that was updated a while back

Obviously. Nobody is saying he should not be updating. Your point is absurd and completely irrelevant to my post. I'm talking about the FREQUENCY of the updates. The app is constantly being updated, all the time.

If any of what you said held true, then most applications would be updating all the time. Except they don't.

Are we now to believe that it's just because Fede is so much harder working? Please.

You won't see applications from for profit companies getting updates every other day because it's totally unprofessional and doesn't adhere to any kind of sane development schedule.

To develop ANYTHING and to properly test it takes at least a week.

Yes I agree that from time to time, a bug fix here or there might result in an update right after another update but with this app it's ALWAYS updating.

I have had co-workers and friends that I turned onto LauncherPro come back to me and ask "Why does this app always want to update???"

Sorry but it's just not cool to be pushing updates all the time. Period.

You have to realize that many features in the launcher cannot be tested by one person. The beat way to find out if something has bugs is to release it to the public and listen to the feedback. Many people have different phones and use their phones in different ways. So there is no way the developer could do the right tests. Why do you think Google releases development builds to their software, why Microsoft releases release candidates, etc. I, for one, look forward to every update of LP.

I love LauncherPro. I wouldn't use anything else and I'll put up with the constant updating but I have every right to complain about it.

My only real criticism of the app itself is that there's no option to have a transparent app drawer background like ADW has.

Then you solicit volunteer beta testers. Happens all the time. You don't just push updates out to every person on the planet who has a phone and your app and call that an effective testing policy.

What is so hard about updating?????????? A couple presses??? I could understand if it's similar to installing a new ROM or something, but come on now, WTH is such an issue about updating??
I really see no reasoning to the griping... no matter how often the updates come...... it just updates and doesn't change any of the settings whatsoever...no??

That being said.... LaUNCHERpRO IS RUNNING INCREDIBLY SMOOTH AND FAST ON MY dROID RIGHT NOW.... tHANKs fEDE FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL APP BRO...

Honestly, you're ridiculous. :icon_eek:

He makes this great app for free. There are dozens of different android phones/versions/etc and he obviously can't test them all so he updates LP when people report bugs.

If it's really too much work for you to tap 3 buttons to update it, you can go by your own schedule and only update once a week, or go back to the stock launcher because you're clearly just too advanced and perfect for Fede and LP.

Believe it or not, your opinion really isn't all that important and you should try getting off your high horse and appreciating the fact that he updates it at all.
