Just Rooted and I need some help! (Samsung Mesmerize)

Hey i Just rooted my mesmerize and i need some help on cool things that i can do. I need to learn how to back up my phone, make it run faster, and i want to change my little 3G symbol into a skull or something cool like that. All other cool things that i can now do i would like to know about also. I have already had to replace my phone once because of bad rooted apps and im trying to do it right this time. PLEASE HELP!!!

There currently isn't a.mezmerize nor all Samsung location, so don't shut off others so quickly.
