jelly bean update to get Google now interactive voice responses

Do you need the jelly bean update to get Google now and google search interactive replies? My devices. Is 4.0.4 so assuming I do not have the jelly bean update. I also see no way to update or use Google now. My Google search seems to be working but I get no voice response for reply. It doesn't seem to be interacting with me the way it should.

Yes you need jelly bean. You might be able to run a hacked version but I assume you're not rooted and don't really recommend doing all that unless you're bored and ready to learn a whole bunch of isht
