Issues Deleting pictures

I am having issues delete pictures from my motorola droid. Once I delete them leave the gallery. I go back in and all the pictures are right back there. I have even deleted all the pictures out of the dcim folder when its connected via usb. Any ideas on how the hell this can happen and where its pulling these pictures from?

Are they pictures you took with the phone's camera or are they stored in Picasa?

you also need to keep in mind that the gallery displays all images on the SD card not just those within the DCIM folder.

so if the picture is elsewhere deleting the DCIM folder does no good.

Can you verify that the files actually exist?

I mean, are they still in the Gallery after a reboot? It might just have an extreme lag in rescanning the SD card which isn't an uncommon problem.

Thanks for everyones help with this. Yea after a reboot they were still there. They were pictures I took with the camera on the phone. It's very strange it actually stored them in the android folder as cache files. Not sure why it did this. Once I removed the cache files the pictures were finally gone.
