Is gde making my Droid run slow?

Ok so I'm using gde on my unrooted moto droid. Sometimes the phone will hang for a few seconds, and I've had instances where it'll freeze, run slow, etc. I used my moms moto droid today and it seemed to be running more smoothly than mine. Granted I download and use more apps and widgets than her, but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with gde? I love gde and the idroid theme so id like to continue using it, but I don't want my phone to continue freezing and searching for the os or whatever. Any tips to help my droid run faster?
