Morning DroidForums! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I was lucky enough to spend some time with Billy and Insane Nemesis of ShadowRom to bring you a little inside to their work and life. ShadowRom is a rom based off of Source code that combines the best parts of Insanely Clean v1.3, and pl3x v3.0.0. Not only does ShadowRom sound like one of the coolest Rom names around, it's available for a variety of Android devices including the Motorola Droid, HTC Incredible, HTC Eris, and HTC Google Nexus One. Well enough about that! Let's get to the interview, I'm sure you will find some of questions/answers as interesting as I did!
______________________________________________________________________________________________
<@davidjr621> so billygalbreath and InsaneNemesis, where are you two located?
<InsaneNemesis> Charlotte, NC
<billygalbreath> Houston, Texas - the most boring place on Earth
<@davidjr621> wow you guys are pretty far apart, is easy to keep in contact to dev the amazing shadowrom?
<billygalbreath> i stalk InsaneNemesis via webcam, so its like he's right next to me
<@davidjr621> haha nice billy. if i may ask how old are you two?
<billygalbreath> i'm 26 years young and my partner in crime is 17 years old
<InsaneNemesis> im 17... too late
<@davidjr621> wow insane, young age to know about all this android deving..what phones do you guys currently have?
<billygalbreath> I have an HTC Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, and a Samsung Fascinate
<InsaneNemesis> i have 2 htc incredibles, 2 moto droids, and an htc eris. i hope to be getting an evo soon aswell
<@davidjr621> wow, very fortunate to have all those devices. did you buy them? or were they donated?
<InsaneNemesis> they were donated by our good friend Ruggar
<InsaneNemesis> except my droids
<billygalbreath> i bought the Eris and Droid, but Ruggar donated the Fascinate to us
<@davidjr621> very nice of Ruggar to donate those! what ROM (besides shadowrom) do you guys like best?
<billygalbreath> the only rom out there that seems worth a damn is CyanogenMod
<InsaneNemesis> i like sapphire and Cyanogen
<@davidjr621> what do you guys for a living?
<InsaneNemesis> nothing
<billygalbreath> nah - i was laid off a couple weeks ago, been looking for work ever since
<@davidjr621> What brought you to DroidForums?
<InsaneNemesis> i bought a droid in November of 2009 and was on youtube watching a video of the 2.1 nexus rom for the droid and then i googled it and found droid forums
<billygalbreath> i needed to learn how to root my droid when i first bought it
<billygalbreath> DF was first result on Google
<@davidjr621> ahh, nice...what is your favorite dev team? Why? (besides yourself)
<billygalbreath> Cyan's team - they have their stuff in order
<InsaneNemesis> cyanogen's team, because they are the best team i have ever seen, and i like ginger beards to
<@davidjr621> what are your Opinions on locked boot loaders? Do you think locked boot loaders will end rooting?
<billygalbreath> locked bootloaders are just another obstacle in the world of hacking. when someone closes a door in a hackers face, they are that much more interested to see whats on the other side and will just work harder to get through
<InsaneNemesis> no they will not end rooting, but they will surely get in the way, locked bootloaders effect you when you want to install a kernel, thats why cm wont be coming to new moto devices. becuase so much of what they have relies on their custom kernel
<@davidjr621> now to something everyone wants to know about EVERY dev! When you created your rom what is the biggest thing you tryed to accomplish, speed? Features?
<billygalbreath> we've been concentrating mostly on features so far, but with out new beginning going to AOSP as a base I want to concentrate more on stability
<InsaneNemesis> well i think that was we are focusing with our new aosp version is stability with the max amount of features. but we dont want to risk stability
<@davidjr621> now, more intersting questions! What are your interests besides developing your ROM?
<billygalbreath> i have reopened the book on Pl3x Wallpaper (available from the market - free and donate versions available) and will be releasing a long awaited updated version with all the user's requests in mind.
<@davidjr621> and InsaneNemesis?
<InsaneNemesis> im interested in engineering, that is my main course of study right now
<@davidjr621> very cool! What are your favorite apps and/or games?
<InsaneNemesis> i like fruit ninja and angry birds, but angry birds is not on the android market now so i dont know what to do :/
<billygalbreath> i played angry birds for a week and it took over my life. i had to get 3 stars in everything in order to put it down, so i hacked it and got all stars and golden eggs. now i can sleep at night again
<@davidjr621> Now, dont hate on the others, but...Mac OSX, Windows, or Linux
<InsaneNemesis> Linux
<billygalbreath> Linux, definitely
<@davidjr621> well thats all i have to ask, Droid_DOES, do you have any questions?
<@Droid_DOES> Not right off. I think its awesome that Insane is only 17!
<@davidjr621> well. i guess thats all. have a very nice rest of your weekend! (and dont foget to set your clocks back!)
<billygalbreath> my droid will set itself
<billygalbreath>
<billygalbreath> its not an iPhone
<InsaneNemesis> that reminds me, i have to fix my ipads clock
<InsaneNemesis> :/
