Intermittent Backlight under 4 radio buttons....random! Any clues???

Brand new Rogers (Canada) Droid Razr, and new to forum with a quick question. I was messing with the Razr last night and realized (it being dark and all) that the 4 radio buttons at bottum of phone were not staying lit. This is a problem as I can't find them when they aren't, even in a lit room. Shouldn't they remain on all the time the phone is active?
